TRAFFIK FEMME tells the impossible story of a woman caught in the hell of human trafficking. A unique blend of physical, musical, dance and shadow theatre, this subversive yet poetic monologue offers insight on the issue, while helping us denounce the unbearable. A pragmatic voice majestically brought to life by dancer and actress Nico Lagarde. Hard-hitting theatre for an unforgettable performance.
Governor General’s Literary Award-winner Emma Haché has written this piece under a commission from Le Trunk Collectif. It is scheduled to première on March 10th, 2012 at the Segal Centre’s Studio with a run of 6 shows in English and 7 in French.
As part of the performances of TRAFFIK FEMME, the audience will be invited to stay for a discussion after the show on the March 14 and 20 of March. There will be a bilingual panel at 6 p.m. on March 13 at the Segal Centre with invited guests such as RCMP representatives and other specialists on the subject of human trafficking. This event is free. For reservations contact Elisabeth Pouliot-Roberge: elisabeth.p.r@videotron.ca.
Since TRAFFIK FEMME’s première many members of our team have had impressive accomplishments; Emma Haché’s text Trafiquée, commissioned especially for this piece, was nominated for the Governor General’s literary award in 2010; Roberto Lopez, sound designer and musician was a Juno Award nominee in 2011 for Best World Music category and actress Nico Lagarde can be seen in the film “Mr Lazhar” now nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film. We are very proud of their achievements!
